Do you paint? Write poetry? Dance? Bake? Animate? Join the Open Call and make art come alive in your own way. We’re inviting you to submit a proposal for a 15- to 30-second social media video inspired by a work from our collection. If your video idea is selected, you’ll receive $3,000 to bring it to life. Your final video creation will be featured online and inside the museum.
How to Apply: Choose one artwork from our curated list in the link. Submit a written proposal by February 28 telling the National Gallery how you’d remix it. Their team will review submissions in March. In April, the top 50 creators will be selected to make a vertical video of their idea. Each top creator will receive $3,000. Videos will be featured on the National Gallery's social media and inside the museum. One proposal per person. All submissions must be written proposals to produce: Guidelines: A 15- to 30-second vertical video in 9:16 inspired by a specific work from among the National Gallery of Art’s 100 preselected works. (Note: You will also have the option to make an additional 16:9 version.) Submissions may not contain anything that reflects discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetic information. Submissions must not contain any political references. Submissions must be the creator’s original work. Submissions created exclusively with AI will not be considered. No plagiarizing or reproducing others’ copyrighted work without express permission. You must obtain full legal permissions for any music or additional artwork included in the video. Submissions will be reviewed by the National Gallery, and selected applicants will be invited to enter into an independent contractor agreement with the National Gallery to produce their proposed content, payment for which will be rendered after the satisfactory delivery of the final video.

Submissions will be reviewed by the National Gallery, and selected applicants will be invited to enter into an independent contractor agreement with the National Gallery to produce their proposed content. Participation in this open call for applications does not guarantee selection or any form of compensation, and selections are made at the sole discretion of the National Gallery. This open call for applications is not a contest, sweepstakes, or offer of employment. Applicants acknowledge that by submitting an application, they are applying to be considered for a potential contract opportunity only. The National Gallery reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel this open call for applications at any time, for any reason, without notice.
